Six-foot heroine, a bear, and a hunk!
This book was sooo fun! I split my sides laughing, AND there's sexy romance! I loaned my copy to a truck driving man, and he told me if I kept finding books like that, he'd read any romance I brought him! I have bought two more copies and given them to friends. They loved it! How to summarize without giving the story away? A city hunk sets out to lure his socialite friend's daughter back to the bright lights, and she, happy where she is, shows him there is more excitement in the woods and streams than he can handle.

Hungry for Heaven: Rock 'N' Roll & the Search for Redemption
Published in Paperback by Intervarsity Press (June, 1995)
Author: Steve Turner
Average review score:

Insightful as to the rock movement's spiritual concerns.
This is the first book i've read in quite some time written by a Christian author on the subject of rock music that's actually fair to the people it's talking about.

Steve Turner understands the rock culture from the 50s thru '95, and he understands not just WHAT rock stars have done to wet their spiritual appetites over the past 40 years, but WHY. He goes piece by piece thru many of the different genres, starting with Elvis and ending with pagan techno, and shows us the thought process that went into the construction of many of the artists' philosophies on who they are, why they exist, whether or not God exists and if He does, whether or not He cares. Although most of the stars thru the years have never, as U2 put it, "found what they're looking for," and have lived excessive lives in the absebnce of any true from of religious satisfaction, the most interesting thing to read about is all they went thru to find their own identities and most still left with unanswered questions in the end.

Recommended for all interested in the rock culture and it's religious roots, but most of all recommended for those in the Church who rail against rock music, having limited research from reading too many Christian authors with slanted views.

Impossible Exchange
Published in Paperback by Verso Books (December, 2001)
Authors: Jean Baudrillard and Chris Turner
Average review score:

Postmodern Fantasies
In this exciting work of philosophy, Baudrillard does what postmodernists do best: he plays with concepts, like a child plays with toys. Those looking for truth should look elsewhere; here, Baudrillard's task is that of completing various strategic word games, connecting different ideas (such as cloning and cancer) in order to enlighten his readers to a philosophical worldview that has more to do with fantasy, fiction and poetry than anything about ultimate truth.
